An on-line library for creating different chart types in Tableau
Area Chart
Tableau Canvas Layout:
Area chart is actually line chart having area underneath filled with color. Another version is stacked area chart, which is a combination of line and stacked bar chart. It shows relative values of stacked dimensions or metrics against each other.
Data Set:
Sample Superstore Dataset
Building an Area Chart
Opening the Superstore dataset
Double-click
Sales
to move it to Rows.
Drag
Sub-category
to move it to Columns.
Set the Marks card to Area.
You should now have a regular area chart similar to the image below.
Stacked Area Chart
Right-click and drag
Order Date
to Columns and select Months.
Drag
Sales
to Rows.
Move
Category
to Color on Marks card. Change it to Area
You should now have a bullet graph similar to the image below.
